KONE Corporation,
press release, November 6, 2018
KONE, a global leader in the elevator
and escalator industry, has won an order to modernize the elevators
at 385 Bourke Street, located in Melbourne, Australia, with the
latest in vertical transport technology.
Based in the heart of Melbourne's
central business district (CBD), 385 Bourke Street is an A-grade
building providing premium facilities for its tenants and an
abundance of dining and retail options on its ground floor. The
41-level office tower, owned by the Dexus Office Partnership and
managed by Dexus, aims to redefine the future of the modern
workplace.
In order to futureproof the vertical
transportation of the building and ensure a safe, seamless and
efficient journey for the occupants and visitors at 385 Bourke
Street, KONE is modernizing the machines with the ReGenerate(TM)
800 solution, as well as upgrading the elevator doors with the KONE
ReNova(TM) solution and complementing them with new car interiors.
These solutions cover the main components of the elevator,
including the hoisting machinery, controller and electrification
system, to create a more reliable, energy efficient and smooth
operation.
The full KONE Destination Control
System (DCS) is also being installed at 385 Bourke Street. The
solution takes into account desired destination floors and the
number of waiting passengers, grouping passengers to improve
efficiency and convenience with less crowded cars and shorter
travel times. KONE will also use state-of-the-art people flow
survey tools such as the Elevator Performance Analyser and Smart
Lobby to ensure the new DCS system is incorporated into the
building with maximum impact.
"This project is a wonderful
opportunity for us to bring the latest in KONE technology and
innovations to align the elevators with the building's vision of
being the modern workplace of the future. We are proud to deliver
modernization solutions to provide the best people flow experience
for the occupants and visitors of 385 Bourke Street," says Axel
Berkling, executive vice president for KONE Asia Pacific.
This order was booked in the second
quarter of 2018 with the project expected to be completed in late
2020.
